Gifted Education
Students identified as gifted are provided support services through the Ohio Department of Education’s Office of Exceptional Children. When providing services for gifted students, the Lucas County Educational Service Center follows the state’s guidelines. Students may be identified as gifted in the following areas: superior cognitive ability; mathematics; reading/writing; science; social studies; creative thinking ability; visual and performing arts.
The gifted services staff provides a wide variety of services to its partner school systems, students and parents. Each school district’s services can range from the gifted identification process, to implementing a variety of service models for meeting the needs of gifted students.
